Glasgow’s Finest: Stories of the Victoria Cross

Join Colonel Niall Campbell for a brief history on the Victoria Cross, the most prestigious medal for valour awarded by the British Military, and deep dive into the tales of some of the Highland Light Infantry and Royal Scots Fusiliers soldiers who received the award. The talk will be followed by an exclusive opportunity to view a select few original Victoria Crosses from the Museum’s collection.

Lunch time talk 12.30 – 1.30pm  in the Colonel of the Regiments Room, third floor.

On the same day from 11am -3pm, see on the exhibition floors the military life and history of today’s Regiment, combining Glasgow’s famous Highland Light Infantry and the Royal Scots Fusiliers of Ayrshire and Glasgow, first starting as volunteer corps. From 1678 to the present day in all parts of the globe. Follow them soldiering around the world, including the great wars of WWI and WWII, and campaigns of today.

Among many themes on display, witness the  71st and 74th of Foot in the Peninsula Campaign and Waterloo 1807-1815 .  A chance to view a rare collection of Military General Service and Waterloo medals, letters, pictures and other memorabilia from the Peninsula War.   

The RHF Museum ground floor is on street level, upper floors access by stairs.
